Courses in first aid and CPR are required to progress
into professional ratings or to earn a rescue diver certification. The
skills you learn in Emergency First Responder classes may help save
someone, anyone, not just a diver. These courses are open to anyone
who would like to learn more about safety and emergency preparedness.
Each session is 4hrs and meets in our classroom.

A course in first aid will go through the
steps needed to respond to an emergency situation where someone has been
injured. Basic techniques to control bleeding and apply bandages are covered.
Proper care for broken limbs, burns, exposure injuries such as frostbite,
hypothermia and heat stroke are all discussed as well. A great deal of
attention is given to personal barriers and proper management of accident
scenes |
| CPR |
|
CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is required anytime
the victim of and accident has stopped breathing and has no pulse. Fast
action can save their life. This class will prepare you to perform CPR
in the event that it would be needed. Basic Life Support techniques are
discussed and practiced utilizing mannequins and scenarios. |
| Automated External Defibrillator (AED) |
|
AED's are the newest addition to a first responder's
toolkit. They are relatively simple to use and are now found almost everywhere.
They allow for first responders and emergency medical personnel to provide
shocks to help restore normal cardiac rhythms. You will learn what they are and how they function
during your EFR class. |
