**1/15/12** Due to a recent Program update, and until approved by the Red Cross
Swim and Scuba is currently able to only offer the Basic Pool Lifeguarding course, we are
in the process of acquiring what is needed in order to conduct the Waterfront Lifeguarding course at our facility
and Dates will be posted if/when we get approval.
This is an American Red Cross Certification Course
Class Dates: February 19 through April 29 2012**
All Classes are on Sundays from 3p - 6:30p
Sunday, March 18 is the CPR/AED class which will be 12pm - 8pm

**We will also be offering another Lifeguard Training class the week of April 9 - April 13 2010, 9am - 6pm.
Pre Test Requirements for Lifeguarding:
To be eligible for the Waterfront Lifeguarding course, the participant must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course. The participant must successfully complete the following:
1. Swim 300 Yards continuously demonstrtating breath control and rhythmic breathing
- 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
- 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
- 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
Note: There is no time requirement for this skill.
2. Tread Water for Two (2) minutes using only the legs.
3. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting pint with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Note: When returning to the starting point, the participant must hold the 10-pound object with both hands, placing the brick on his or her chest, and must keep his or her face above the water. The participant can swim on his or her back using an elementary backstroke kick, flutter kick or a rotary (eggbeater) kick.
Certification: Lifeguarding/First aid/CPR/AED- valid for 2 years
Pre Test requirements:For Waterfront Lifeguarding COURSE DATE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED DUE TO UPDATE. Check back at future dates.

1. Swim 550 yards (about 500 meters) continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
- 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
- 200 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
- 150 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 150 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
Note: There is no time requirement for this skill.
2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting pint with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

3. Swim 5 yards; submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water; resurface; and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool.
Note: Participants must pick up the three objects placed 5 yards apart. While retrieving the dive rings, participants must stay under the water.
4. Tread Water for Two (2) minutes using only the legs.**
Certification: Waterfront Skills - valid 2 years
